Veronica M. Rojas, MD

Veronica M. Rojas, M.D is a Double Board Certified of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She holds a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at New York University as a voluntary faculty. Dr Rojas’s area of psychiatric expertise is diverse; adolescents, college women transitioning into young professional women, motherhood and families.

She has trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy and dialectic behavioral therapy. She is currently becoming certified in Mindful Based Stress Reduction at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Rojas applies all these techniques plus her great belief in exercise, vitamins, meditation and psychotropic medication when needed. Dr. Rojas did her General Psychiatric Residency at New York Presbyterian (Cornell) and did her Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Fellowship at New York University –Child Study Center.

Following her fellowship, she became the Director of the first ACS (Administration for Children and Families) – Bellevue Mental Health Program for five years. After running this program, she had the privilege of becoming the first female to be an Associate Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital.   In addition, she was the psychiatrist at Edwin Gould for Children & Families foster care agency for more than ten years, providing services to women in great need.

 

Dr. Rojas has published in several magazines, has appeared on television and has published articles and book chapters related to women and their families, college young professional women, trauma and migration. She practices psychiatry in NYC and Ridgewood, NJ, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
